I had the pleasure of performing at Glasgow's Royal Concert hall for the first time a couple of weeks ago with the Glasgow Studio Orchestra. We were providing the music for GAMTA's 21 year anniversary concert featuring special guests Michelle McManus and Wicked's Jacqueline Hughes.
After a long drive down from Saturday nights wedding with Superhouse in Fraserburgh I was relying on coffee to stay awake during the rehearsal/sound check which ran through Sunday morning/afternoon, then it was a quick change into smarts for the concert itself. As well as being an incredible and historic venue it also goes down as the coolest stage i've played on - with electronic moving platforms for each section of the orchestra!
The concert itself was a great success - a packed crowd and some amazing singers - very impressed with the GAMTA students and alumni! A particular highlight was playing kit for Michelle McManus' UK number one hit song "All This Time" - I remember hearing it everywhere as a teenager when it was released and I certainly never expected to be playing it with her.
I'm currently editing the 'drum cam' footage featuring myself and fellow drummer Mike Bryans so will post a link to that when it's done.
